Jim Newman has been very involved with the Architectural Engineering (AE) students at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) for several years now. His guest lectures are exciting, practical and give the students first-hand knowledge that they cannot easily get in the classroom. Jim also regularly reviews Capstone projects and provides the students with guidance that is based on years of experiences. Jim Newman is an asset to the AE Program, to Lawrence Tech and to Metro Detroit.

Jim Newman was a speaker at our Michigan Geothermal Energy Association (MGEA) annual conference at the Soaring Eagle Resort and Casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI where we have held the event for the past 5 years. We were honored and delighted that Jim agreed to speak to our group since he does speaking engagements all over the world. His presentation was riveting and engaging - he challenged us to look at things differently.
We discovered that Jim was heavily involved in the energy efficiency design work for the Soaring Eagle Resort and Casino that resulted in the chiller plant being reduced from 4,000 to 3,000 tons. The Casino also won an Indoor Air Quality award two years after it was built. Small world, isn't it?

I am deeply appreciative of Jim's in-depth experience and willingness to see us through the entire project, with PACE of course, but in other areas that will become obvious to us both as we go along.

Jim Newman gave a fantastic talk on the state of the industry for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) at the October dinner meeting of the Southeast Michigan Power Plant Engineer Society (SEMPPES). He delivered comprehensive information on various problems to watch out for, ways to save energy and how to optimize the air quality in buildings. Great examples were included on balancing the cost of good IAQ versus the potential legal liabilities of poor IAQ. All who attended were impressed. Kudos for making the slides from the presentation available on-line for our members to use until the end of 2016.

The Newman Consulting Group brings a wealth of experiential knowledge, creative solutions and synergy to every project. Our experience with Jim Newman and the NCG Team as LEED Project Administrators on a complex LEED-NC Gold-certified project and a LEED-H Platinum-certified project created excellent results – not only on LEED requirements, but ultimately on the development of very efficient buildings and systems.

Your seminar “Green & Sustainable Practices: How to Design a Healthier, More Profitable Building with Integrated Design received excellent survey responses from the individuals who attended the conference. I believe our members were very pleased with both the seminar and your presentation. You gave valuable insight for the design professional to use on a daily basis.

Thank you for the dedication and tireless effort you have exhibited in putting together the five seminars on LEED and ASHRAE Standards in Dubai and Qatar in the span of a week.
Your interest in understanding the regional issues, coupled with the flexibility to change your presentation to address the local audience, made the seminars very effective and popular.
I am confident that those present will always consider the impact their decisions make on the environment and now have the tools to make better decisions.

Jim Newman joined our ASHRAE Colombia Chapter for a thrilling four-day full schedule program that included five lectures, as well as a visit to Bogota Industrial Expo and other cultural and social activities. His hard work in preparing every lecture until late at night in order to make it right for the audience, and his easygoing way of putting his experience into an enjoyable and enriching presentation made those days a fantastic and unforgettable experience to our owners and our engineers, as well as our ASHRAE members and students. His warm personality and friendship is something we will enjoy in the future.

Thank you so much for the two excellent Distinguished Lecturer presentations. Not only did our chapter have an above average turnout, but the discussion during and after your presentations were extremely educational. Everyone was impressed with your knowledge of sustainability. Not to mention, how well you related the economic and social benefits to be gained by transforming an older facility into a higher performance building.

Your presentation today and your knowledge of the plethora of standards, with history, decisions, and dates was fascinating. I and others find the pace of progress and change is stressful to track and a real challenge to maintain. Your ability to transmit information and make it interesting gives us comfort.
