Five ways they are Unique and Five ways they are the Same as other LEED buildings
Recently I spoke at the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) 40th national conference that was held in Detroit. I was there representing the Detroit Regional Chapter of the US Green Building Council, and was pleased to see how many of those attending were LEED Accredited Professionals. It says a lot about how important green building principles are becoming in all areas of building and construction.
In 2003, I attended my first GreenBuild Convention, held in the new convention center in Pittsburgh, a very Green Building. At that convention there were approximately 4,000 attendees and less than 100 exhibitors. At the 2010 convention, only 7 years later - and in those distressed economic times - there were more than 28,000 attendees and almost a thousand exhibitors.
